Please list one or more projects an intern could focus on
*
We are encouraging that as much as possible, summer interns see a single project to completion. We will help to identify specific goals for these projects so the intern's work is clearly defined. The interns CAN help with daily work (around 50% of the time) and observe the workplace (around 10% of the time) but we'd like at least 40% of the internship to focus on a project.
Examples:
Direct Service: Manage a portion of the organization’s direct service delivery, particularly when existing systems are in place for support. (Example: Create a series of workshops for an after school program and produce an implementation guide with lesson plans and a program evaluation)
Event Planning: Design, organize, and lead their own special event (not a regular or annual event). (Example: Put on the first Assistive Technology Resource Fair for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for Easter Seals then create an outcomes report and memo about how to replicate)
Report or Analysis: Research or analysis project and produce a report/presentation (Examples: Research and write a handbook about urban chicken care for Green City Growers; Analyze program data and produce and deliver a presentation to staff about recommended program revisions)
Social Media: Develop and implement a social media strategy for the summer (must include significant opportunity for design and planning, not just executing existing plans). (Example: Manage social media strategy and implementation for Playworks including launching a new Snapchat channel then create a style guide for future use)
Strategic Project: Develop and implement a particular strategy that is self-contained but supports the broader goals of the organization. (Examples: Launch a new newsletter to increase outreach to target communities; create and implement a strategy to recruit 25 new volunteers; report on outcomes in brief write up.)
What budget do you estimate being able to contribute toward the intern's pay?
*
Interns will be paid $20 an hour through this program. Employers can receive a partial subsidy for pay depending on need. The program runs from May 1st through August 30, 2024, and interns can work up to 40 hours a week. Employers and interns can discuss the internship being part-time each week, or running for a shorter number of weeks. It would be helpful to know your initial thoughts on what you can afford per hour or total, knowing we can discuss this together.
Diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace is a key value of the Internship Program.
