Senator Welch Revisits Impacts of July 2023 Flooding in Barre

I was honored to be included in a small group tasked with the important responsibility of updating Senator Peter Welch and his team on the continued flood recovery response in Barre. Last week, the Senator’s team arranged a conversation with local leaders who made important updates on the continued needs of citizens, homeowners, renters, the City, and business owners.

As difficult as these conversations are, I have never felt alone in the work of responding to this disaster. In this conversation, partners from City of Barre, Capstone, the Rainbow Bridge Community Center, Barre Up, were there to echo and uplift the concerns we all shared about community recovery.

The Senator also took time to tour and speak at length with those who are still working to rebuild for the future, including Dessureau Machines.

There is still so much ahead of us in flood recovery, and CVEDC appreciates the attention and support of its partners to build back a more resilient Central Vermont after July’s floods.
